North Eastern Railway 12 inch Fusee clock
Ex Middlesborough

For Sale or exchange, 12-inch Oak cased iron dial clock with a spun brass bezel
manufactured for the North Eastern Railway circa 1870 by Potts
& Sons of Leeds. The quality early English fusee movement in fully
overhauled condition has ‘A’ frame shaped plates which are held
together by turned pillars, these characteristics point to a clock
manufactured around 1870. The white enamel painted dial in
original LNER condition displaying bold Roman numerals and the
legend L.N.E.R. 5002, also visible in ghosted writing is
POTTS & SONS LEEDS, LNER again ! NER and P 1358 ( its original
NER number). The Case is a traditional English dial clock case manufactured from
English Oak with a eight piece turned convex surround
fixed to the back box by two battens with four tapered pegs, the
back box is of traditional mid 19TH century design with
two side access door’s and a bottom door secured by a brass lock.
The LNER Clock records show that this clock was located at
Middlesborough,
Goods Abstract office. A magnificent clock in good original
condition with a really nice colour to the case complete with its
original British Railways collectors corner receipt.

Southern Railway 8 inch Fusee
Clock

8 inch Oak cased iron dial fusee railway clock with a spun brass
bezel supplied to the Southern Railway in 1938 by John
Walker of London at a cost of £3-10-0d. The quality English fusee
movement in fully overhauled condition has rectangular plates, which
are held together by cylindrical pillars.A totally original Oak case
with a four piece turned surround held onto the back box by four
tapered pegs, the case has been lightly waxed. The back box is of
typical 20th century design with one side door and a bottom door
secured by a brass turn. An enamel painted iron dial with Roman
numerals and bearing the legend, B.R.(S) John Walker 1 South Molton
ST London 10306. The Southern
Railway clock records show that this clock was located at,
Arundel Station,
Burpham Signal Box, and was sold from railway service to Messrs
Gorieng in London on the 23rd November 1964. Arundel was a
former London Brighton and South Coast Railway Station in Sussex on
the coastal line from Portsmouth to Brighton.

Great Eastern Railway 6 inch Fusee
Bracket Clock
Ex Liverpool Street.

mahogany cased convex dial bracket clock with a cast brass bezel
with convex glass manufactured for
the Great Eastern Railway in the latter part of the 19th century. The quality
English chain driven fusee movement in fully overhauled condition
has rectangular plates with shaped shoulders. The silvered brass
convex dial has been rewritten post 1948 by British Railways Eastern
region and displays wax filled Roman numerals and the
legend BR(E) 1355. The
arched top mahogany case has been sympathetically restored to its
original French polish finish. The LNER records show that this
clock was last located at Liverpool Street Station and was used in the
Eastern Region HQ DOS Private Office. Railway bracket clocks of this
quality are seldom seen so this clock is somewhat of a rarity and
would be suitable for display in most dwellings.

Great Western Railway 3½ inch
Brass Drum Clock.

For Sale or exchange, 3½ inch Brass cased Great Western
Railway drum clock. This was supplied to the
Great Western Railway in the latter part of the 19th century by Kay
& Co of Worcester. The brass case is stamped with serial number 3456
as is the movement and back of the case, the quality French made
circular movement has been stripped and cleaned and now is keeping
good time, the enamel dial is free from chips and restoration and
the clock retains its original feet and hands. Rare to find this
type of clock in this condition ! GWR brass drum clocks were used in
signal boxes and offices.

Elliott Ltd at a cost of £7-6-8d. The quality English fusee movement
in fully overhauled condition has rectangular plates, which are held
together by cylindrical pillars and the plates are stamped with the
movement number 18470. A totally original Oak case with a four piece
turned surround held onto the back box by four tapered pegs. The
back box is of typical 20th century design with one side
door and a bottom door secured by a brass turn. An enamel painted
iron dial with Roman numerals and bearing the legend, B.R.(S) 10909.
The Southern Railway clock records show that this clock was located
at, St Margaret's Station Booking Hall. St
Margaret's was a former
London and South Western Railway station in Middlesex on the line
between Richmond & Twickenham.

For Sale or exchange, 16 inch Mahogany cased iron dial fusee railway clock with a spun brass bezel supplied to the
Eastern Region of British Railways around 1950. The quality English fusee movement
in fully overhauled condition has rectangular plates, which are held
together by cylindrical pillars. A totally original mahogany case with a four piece
turned surround held onto the back box by four tapered pegs. The
back box is of typical 20th century design with one side
door and a bottom door secured by a brass turn. An enamel painted
iron dial with Arabic numerals and bearing the legend, B.R. 14101.
The L.N.E.R. records show that this clock was located at
Enfield Chase Station Platform and was sent to British
Railways collectors corner on 22nd April 1989 it was sold and the
original sales receipt and a scan of the original clock
record will be included with the Clock. Railway clocks over 14
inch are quite rare so this 16inch clock will make a nice focal
point for someone. Complete with its original British Railways
collectors corner receipt.

Lambley

oak cased iron dial clock with a cast brass bezel manufactured for
the NER by Reid & Son of Newcastle upon Tyne. The quality early
English fusee movement in fully overhauled condition has rectangular
plates with shaped shoulders, which are held together by turned
barreled pillars with a central ring, the suspension back cock is
also shaped, all of these features point to a movement made in the
period 1860 to 1870. The White enamel painted dial rewritten by the
LNER in the grouping style displaying bold Roman numerals and the
legend LNER 4798. A small amount of restoration has been carried out
sympathetically but the dial has not been totally repainted. The
case is a traditional English drop dial clock case manufactured out
of fine figured oak with a turned convex surround affixed to the back box by two battens
with two tapered pegs, the back box is of traditional Mid 19th
century design with one side access door and a bottom door secured
by a brass lock, the side door also still retains Reid repair
numbers and dates written in ink. The LNER records show that this
clock was last located at
Lambley Station and was used in the
Station Cabin (Signal Box). Lambley was a former North Eastern
Railway station in Northumberland on the Branch from Haltwhistle and
Alston (which is now home to the South Tynedale Railway).

clock with a spun brass bezel manufactured for the Great Northern
Railway circa 1870–1880 by John Smith of Derby. The
quality English chain driven fusee movement in fully overhauled condition has
rectangular plates with shaped shoulders which are held together by turned tapered
pillars, these characteristics point to a clock manufactured between
1870-1880. The white enamel painted dial rewritten in the post grouping
style displaying bold Roman numerals and the legend B.R.(E) 9336,
surrounded by a spun brass bezel. The LNER records show that this
clock was originally GNR clock No 903 and its last known location
was Newark Northgate Cotham Signal Box.

platform lever escapement held within rectangular brass plates
manufactured by Smiths and is in

complete with its original cast brass bezel, the case measures 10

clock with drop to the case and a cast brass bezel manufactured for
the South Eastern Railway circa 1860. The quality chain driven
English fusee movement of typical London style has rectangular
plates which are held together by turned tapered shouldered pillars,
these characteristics point to a clock manufactured in the 1860’s
period. The front plate is stamped with the number 439 and the back
plate is stamped with the SER cartouche. A white enamel screen
printed and hand painted dial displaying bold Roman numerals and the
legend, B.R.(S). John Walker 1, South Molton St London 439.S.E. the
rear of the dial is also stamped 439. A traditional English
drop dial clock case manufactured from Mahogany with a one piece
turned convex surround affixed to the back box by two battens with
four tapered pegs, the back box is of traditional mid to late 19TH
century design with one side access door and a bottom door with the
lock removed and replaced with an ornate brass turn, the drop of the
case features a flame mahogany curl veneer and the rear of the case
has been branded SER and stamped 439SE and the side door retains its
original SER brass numberplate 439. The Southern clock records show
that this clock was originally supplied to
Cuxton Signal Cabin,
Cuxton was on the line between Strood and Maidstone in Kent. Also
included with the clock is the original British Railways Collectors
Corner sales receipt dated 23/3/1989.

12 inch Clock. Ex Rugby

For Sale or exchange, 12 inch Oak cased wall clock manufactured for the LMS circa
1930-1940, the clock has a going barrel movement with platform lever
escapement held within rectangular brass plates in fully overhauled
and working condition, the dial retains its original finish and
bears the legend LMS 17206. The case has a solid oak surround made
from four segments with an integral back box. Although the LMS
records do not exist this clock came from the family of Mr. Ernest
Leslie Day, who was the Chief Technical assistant to the Civil
Engineers Department and he was allowed to purchase his clock from
his Rugby Office upon retirement, one of his
notable tasks was to oversee the building of Birmingham New Street
new Signal Box.
