A 6-inch Mahogany cased Fusee Bracket clock manufactured for the G.E.R. by Bevan of Tottenham London circa 1890.
The quality English chain driven fusee movement in fully overhauled condition has rectangular plates which are held together by turned shaped pillars, all these characteristics point to a clock manufactured in the latter part of the 19th century.
A white enamel painted dial displaying bold roman numerals and the legend B.R.777 surrounded by a cast brass bezel with a keyed lock. Interestingly the rear of the dial shows strict instructions to the dial painters to repaint in roman not 24hr.
A Superb Gothic style case in mahogany with a glazed rear door secured by a keyed lock, a Great Eastern Railway ivorine number plate is screwed onto the inside confirming the clock number 777.
The L.N.E.R. records show that this clock was located at Kings Cross Station with a sub location of Chief of Stores Hadley Wood.
A rare and unusual Railway timepiece used by senior employees of the railways.
